As The New Year Dawns
12/31/08 02:49 PM
The new year is coming, 9 hoursish for me. I’m still
working, I just released a small update to MacDust (3.01)
which you can go download. Gears are also beginning to
turn again behind Back It, which when the update is
released, it will have a new icon and new name:
Data Bundler. Hopefully both will
more clearly depict what the app is for, and reduce
confusion.
Also still working on getting automatic payment verification and instant licensing up, but it’s still quite the task because I keep running into problems with Potion Store.
Ah, well. Happy New Years everyone!

My Top Five
12/19/08 08:09 PM
So I’ve just noticed, every application in my dock is
always open. There is nothing sitting
there just waiting to be used. Now this is partially
because I use Overflow, but also because I like a clean
dock. So I figured I’d list my top five, always open,
favorite apps.
Yup, there you have it. My top five, always open, favorite apps.
- iTunes
- xCode
- Safari
- Adium

Rewrite... two?
12/10/08 11:01 PM
Er, I rewrote the cleaning engine for MacDust 3 again
today... That’s it’s fourth makeover since its original
creation, and its second rewrite between versions two and
three. Still, that gives me the right to say this:
MacDust 3 features a twice re-written cleaning engine that has been proven to be the fastest, most efficient, and now won't hang when cleaning due to a brand new threading system.
Powered By Greatness
12/07/08 06:01 PM
MacDust 3 will have many new tools. To add many great
ones, I’ve worked with Opt-6 to power some of
MacDust 3’s tools by xMod. But it only gets better,
instead of being a direct inclusion, I’ve converted
the selected xMod commands to Cocoa. This will make
the overall size smaller, and quicker. Do not be
mistaken though, not all of the tools are powered by
xMod, some great ones are in there too made
specially by me.
MacDust 3 - Now Privately Testing
12/05/08 05:18 PM
MacDust 3 is now ready for private beta testing. I’m
sorry but this means that I cannot accept any more
private testers. Hopefully things will continue to move
at this pace and be ready for public testing before too
long.
The December Post
12/01/08 08:06 PM
So MacDust 3 wasn’t able to make my plans for a Dec 1
release, but it’s still getting close.
I can only hope I am able to get it out by February, one year after the project was announced. It hasn’t taken so long to make because it’s so complex, or there’s so many new features. I have just been running low on time, and surprisingly rewriting from the ground up is a bit more difficult than imagined.

Still Here, Working
11/15/08 03:00 PM
Gah so much work to do on MacDust 3. And so much to do in
World of Warcraft...
=P I’ve been playing World of Warcraft too much lately. If you want to help speed up MacDust 3, feel free to send me gold.
Note: If you’re on Emerald Dream (US RPPVP) I will accept gold as payment for your license. eMail me for more information.
This offer only stands until I get an epic mount.

Ignorance
10/20/08 08:31 PM
I hate ignorant people. It’s wrong to judge anyone
without knowing them.
Even if it doesn’t profit at all, everyone should stand up for what’s right.
Be nice now.

Cheap, Easy Fun
10/06/08 09:08 PM
Get a disposable camera.
Pull it apart. Take care not to actually break anything. Remove the circuit card inside. Note the little button that is right where the "charge flash" button was. Press it, you'll hear the capacitor whine as it charges. Be sure you are not touching any of the circuitry, you'll know right away if you are.
Now, toss it to someone.

Work Progresses on MacDust 3
10/05/08 02:09 PM
The licensing system for MacDust 3 will remain the same
basic kind of thing. But if you have used MacDust 2, the
new version will look for an old license. This is where
the fun part starts. It will ask you if you would allow
it to connect to the internet, should you grant it
permission it will check your license to see if you are
eligible for any discounts or a free upgrade. If you have
the free upgrade, MacDust 3 will then automatically grab
your new license from the server! Because of this
I will not be emailing out MacDust 3 free upgrade
keys. If you are eligible for a discount,
MacDust 3 will open a new browser window (with your
permission of course) to a special discount page.
Also, note MacDust 3 will not be using Sparkle.

Updates
09/26/08 05:44 PM
As I may have stated before I have intricate plans for
updating Back It, I just need to find time for them.
Keep checking back here, and emailing me to help push toward the completion of these revolutionary new features.

The Great Debate
09/14/08 05:50 PM
The great debate of 2008, should I use Sparkle for
MacDust 3 or write my own update system...
